  • Celebrate!

    I recently had the pleasure of going to a birthday party — my grandparents’ dog’s 8th birthday party to be specific.  Fellow partygoers included my mom, grandparents, great aunt and uncle and their puppy as well.  What an experience it was.  What I was hoping to be a relaxing family visit actually turned out to be a bit more chaotic than desired after the previous night full of old friends and a wedding celebration.   • Media training: Always a good idea

    TNT announcer and former NBA player Charles Barkley can say can't.

    On the heels of controversial comments made by BP CEO Tony Hayward about the ocean essentially repairing itself and that he’d like everything in his life to be normal again, company chairman Carl-Henric Svanberg leapt into the void… to make things better. He promptly made them worse by mentioning that BP cares about “the small people” injured by the oil gusher in the Gulf of Mexico.

  • New kid on the block

    Kathleen Larkin is the new summer intern at LePoidevin Marketing.

    Hello all, I’m Kathleen Larkin, the new summer intern at LePoidevin Marketing. I’m originally from nearby Pewaukee, Wis., and will be a senior at Tulane University in New Orleans this fall.

    As a marketing major, I’m excited to be here learning all that I can. I hope to learn more about the business-to-business side of marketing, receive some hands-on experience with marketing research and writing, and to see if what I’ve learned in school so far applies to marketing in the real world.   • Training the owner, not the dog

    My last post touched on the process my wife and I had been going through while attempting to adopt a dog.  I also mentioned how I prefer larger breeds, and that she wanted a smaller dog.

    Well, as most every reader of MERGE would have guessed, my wife’s preferences won out…meet Rizzo, our dachshund-schnauzer combo.  Described often as “so ugly he’s cute,” Rizzo has very quickly won both of us over.  (more…)
